Our Approach to Personal Information
Vermail's business model is not based on selling personal information.
Our aim is to provide users with a broad range of digital services within a single environment. Depending on the services available to you, this may include comprehensive email functionality, an Organizer for managing appointments, Contacts for storing contact information, Cloud functionality for storing or sharing files, and access to other online services.
When you sign in to Vermail, your mailbox may also be presented alongside news, information, or other content available through the Vermail Online Portal or Vermail Home page.
Where possible, we seek to make the information, content, and advertising displayed through these services relevant to the user's interests and preferences.
Meaning of “Sale” Under the CCPA
Although Vermail does not operate a business whose purpose is the sale of personal information, California privacy law uses a broad definition of the term “sale.”
Under the CCPA, certain transfers or disclosures of personal information to another business or third party in exchange for monetary or other valuable consideration may potentially fall within this definition.
Such activities may include selling, renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, transferring, or otherwise communicating personal information by oral, written, electronic, or other means where the applicable statutory requirements are met.
Because this definition is broad, certain services provided by Vermail may potentially fall within its scope even though Vermail does not directly sell customer databases or personal information as a commercial product.
One example may be certain processing associated with interest-based or personalized advertising.

The Privacy Policy also provides information about categories of personal information processed during the relevant preceding period, including, where required by applicable law, the previous 12 months.
Exercising Your Right to Opt Out
We understand that California residents may wish to ensure that personal information is not processed in a way that qualifies as a “sale” under applicable California privacy legislation.

If you are a registered Vermail user, or if you have otherwise provided Vermail with your email address, you may exercise your applicable opt-out rights through our contact form or other privacy controls made available for this purpose.
By submitting a request to opt out of the “sale” of your personal information under the CCPA, you confirm that you are exercising rights available to you as a California resident.

CCPA Opt-Out Tools
California consumers may also have access to privacy tools that allow them to submit CCPA opt-out requests through the browser or other supported mechanisms.
Depending on the tool and participating organizations, these mechanisms may allow users to:
- identify participating companies;
- review information about their privacy practices; and
- submit requests to opt out of the sale of personal information to some or all participating companies.
Such tools may provide an additional method for California consumers to exercise rights available under the California Consumer Privacy Act.
