Archive a conversation when no further action is needed. It remains searchable and can be found in All Mail.
Use a small label set
A few clear labels are usually easier to maintain than a complex folder tree. Begin with broad areas such as Work, Travel or Personal and add detail only when it solves a recurring problem.
